i love hosting gatherings and party planning.  i love the ability to put attention to the little details and the freedom of making each gathering unique and tailored to whoever i'm hosting for.  since autumn is finally here, i wanted to do apple picking a little bit differently this year and host a little wine and cheese event while apple picking.  i partnered with paperless post to create the cutest little online invitations for my soiree.

something about turning 28 last year caused my mind to shift.  i started being more conscience about the food that i'm putting in my body, the amount of water that i'm drinking and even the products that i'm applying on my skin.  i'm not sure if it's that i'm afraid of getting older or if something just clicked and i started taking life a bit more serious...or could it just be that one grey hair that i found earlier this year?  either way, i feel good about the slight changes that i'm making in my life.

one of those small changes being wearing sunscreen.  would you judge me if i told you that before this year, i never took wearing sunscreen seriously?  not even if i was going to be in the sun all day!  yikes...i know.  i'm a little ashamed to even say that outloud because i've know the risks of skin cancer and early aging practically all my life.

so when i was giving the opportunity to work with jan marini skin research, i jumped right on the opportunity.  this invisible, hydrating and weightless sunscreen feels amazing on my skin and smells great.  it's also fast drying and features microscopic particles for additional oil control, which is something that's super important for me when choosing skin care.  your oily skinned girl cannot be wearing oily products, that's for sure.  and the best part, this face protectant has SPF 33, which helps reduce and address damage caused by sun exposure.

next month is skin cancer awareness month and jan marini is hosting a national skin care event called Beauty in Bloom.  locate a beauty in bloom national skin care event and enter for a chance to win weekly prizes.

on saturday junior and i celebrated our four year anniversary in the city.  we had the absolute best time!  junior had bought us tickets to go see the comedian joey "coco" diaz.  at first i was all like ugh!  he's so nasty!!!!  but boy, am i glad we saw him!  he was so raunchy and nasty and repulsive but wow, how friggin funny!!!  we've never laughed so hard!  and it's true, he is super raunchy but he's real and that's what i love about him.

after the show, junior and i went to our favorite spot for dinner in little italy called angelo's.  we had some wine and some of our favorite food- fried calamari, (i had) clams oreganata, we split a chicken parmigiana entree (since 1 portion is enough for two people) and then we indulged in a delicious lemon tart for dessert.

what a fantastic evening with my favorite date!  it feels good that after four years, we haven't killed each other and we can still enjoy a night out together ;)

and some pictures from our night that i shared over on my instastories...

thank you, honey for a fantastic evening!

i love keeping certain traditions and documenting them to look back on.

we went apple picking again with friends this year at masker orchard in warwick, new york.  i love going to masker's because you can drive your car right up to the apple trees, set up a picnic, and stay there all day.  its always a fun outing and one I look forward to every fall!  and luckily the weather was favorable!  I'm loving these warm falls that we are getting!  totally not complaining ;)  and also, we can't ever leave with buying a dozen apple cider donuts.  who doesn't love apple cider donuts?!  (don't answer that if you don't because then we can't be friends ;)

our trip to the apple orchard last year here.
