inspired vol 2: heart garlands

February 10, 2016

i'm hosting a little love day soiree for a few of my friends on friday and decided to diy a some decorations.  i pinned this garland on pinterest a little while ago and knew i had to recreate it!  i am such a do-it-yourself type of girl and immediately knew what materials i needed to make it myself.

i collect anthropologie magazines because they always have the most beautiful and inspiring colors.  it was so easy to go through a few magazines and find some pages with red, pink or purple that i can use to cut into hearts.  i used this image and made a stencil by printing it on thick paper (i used a manila folder).  i went to the goodwill and bought an old book (for $0.99).  i actually bought romeo and juliet, which is so fitting because i planned on cutting the pages into hearts.  i gathered a few more supplies that i had at home (a pencil to trace the hearts, scissors to cut them out with, a hot glue gun and string) and i was ready to go!  all in all, this little project cost me a dollar!

i didn't make the garlands in one sitting because it would have been too time consuming.  i cut hearts a few different nights in a row and once i had enough, i started to put the garlands together.  they were so easy to make but next time, i think i'll have to buy a heart shaped punch out like this one just to make my life easier!  i love how these garlands came out and i can't wait to decorate my apartment with them.

have you done any cute crafts lately?  i love getting inspired by others so please share!!
